Golf is a gentlemen’s game where a collared shirt is mandatory and etiquette is required (unless you are out of view of the clubhouse). However, when the game of golf hosts a major tournament…the game turns into one hell of a host for one hell of a PARTY!

I just spent a week directing a project, that I cannot yet talk about, and got to play fly on the wall to one of golf’s prized events, The Players. It was unreal to see those athletes perform in person and to get within arms reach of Phil and Tiger, but my favorite part ended up being away from the fairway. Little did I know that a golf tournament is like the environment at Disney World without all of the concrete! I have to say that some of the best people watching I have ever partook in happened this past week.

I do not want to undermine the Pro Golfer’s who participated in this event, because I was blown away and inspired by their performances. TPC Sawgrass is like the Everest of golf. It’s a course that does not favor any one type of player and in turn tests your mental stability. In short…The pros of the PGA are true athletes and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.

That said, who wouldn’t want to go to a golf tournament??? There’s eye candy everywhere you look and enough sport to get the adrenaline pumping! I mean, you could go to Disney World, but it may be in your best interest to trade Mickey and Minnie for an adult beverage and a Tiger.

Took a little 36 hour trip to Las Vegas for NAB with some friends (see picture) to catch up, look at cool stuff, and eat a delicious steak. For those of you who do not know what NAB is…It’s basically a convention that showcases the future of film and video technology each year. Basically it is a nerd fest with tons of toys.

5 Things I learned from NAB this year…

1. 3D is the real thing. No motion sickness.

2. The Red Scarlet fixed lens camera is the indie filmmaker’s wet dream.

3. DSLR’s are being fazed out by REAL VIDEO CAMERAS.

4. Carlos Santana is tiny.

5. Technology cannot tell a story.
